comment on task: It a new learning curve for me, would I use this site again..may be. It too much work to create your presentation and post it on this site, may be we could promote it to customers...sure why not?

What it easy to navigate? first you have to create a username and password, yes that was fine. It easy to navigate, to style your profile and create presentation not so good. ...I am more of an image person click it an paste it and this did not work for me.

Week 3: FeedMyInbox - RSS made simple

It helps if you read the instructions first otherwise you will lose the plot...the FeedMyInbox tool is amazing all you have to do is paste the website of your own choice like for an example, I have subscripted What's new on the Pulse te Auaha , then check your email and confirm and now you're with "What's new on the Pulse Te Auah" link to the Christchurch library. It easy to use if you read the instruction first...would customers find it simple to use? perhaps the more advanced users, beginner users would need help from someone that is already an expert.

MANUKAU LIBRARIES WEB 2.0 ...
ROUND 2

HERE WE GO....

Week 1 : Box.net - online file storage

http://www.box.net/files#/files/0/f/48424967/Ani's_documents

Here is the link to my files, I have saved these two files so I can access them from home, especially the Rangatahi template shell and also the three panel template. In case i might have to do a bit of work at home.

This is the first time I have used Box.net, it great. You can do so many things and it is very easy to use. what worked for me? The facts that I can save documents and pictures on it, the downside is that if I run out of storage, I will have to purchase a bigger gig. I would definitely recommend box.net to our customers for the reason, they always turn up with no USB to save there work on.

ABOUT ME

I was born on the Island of Mangaia(Cook Island). MANGAIA, the most southerly of the Cook Islands, is also the second largest. It has the distinction of being the oldest island in the Pacific. Analysis of its geology shows it dates from 18 million years ago which is probably why it arouses keen interest among geologists. Roughly circular in shape, it rises 15,600 feet (4750 m) above the ocean floor. It has a central volcanic plateau and, like many of the southern islands in the Cooks, it is surrounded by a 200-foot (60 m) high ring of cliffs of fossilised coral, makatea. Arrived to New Zealand on the 2nd February 1981 and sadly I have never returned home since then. Brought up by my grandparents, whom I love dearly. I speak fluent Cook Island Maori and yes I am a real Poly Cookie.

Learning 2.0 final learning point and discovery.

learning 2.0 has been a blast, I have learnt how to use new tools which I have never taken aboard before..that was Zamzar, now I have the knowledge how to covert simple word doc into PDR format and also create video files.
This learning 2.0 is much more simplified and more user friendly.

WEEK SIX: FACEBOOK

What can Facebook do for you individually?
From my own experiences, I have used FACEBOOK as a social networking tool to communicate with friends and especially with long distance family members in Australia. I have also managed to hook up all the people from my homeland, since primary school age.

What can Facebook do for us as a public library?
Facebook is a great networking tool, for Manix, this has already attracted some of our Manukau library teen users to connect and share what they have already read and it a great way of posting our library events.
Facebook is easy to use and yes, I would definitely continue to use Facebook and promote this to our Manukau library users.

What would our customers get out of a Facebook page?
Customer engagement to what we provide as a business, sharing our knowledge about great books, recommending good authors and top five reads. We’re leading young generations by building relationship through facebook.

Find 1 library (public, tertiary or other) and look at what sorts of update they make?
I have looked at Auckland City libraries and Christchurch City libraries. They seem to communicate with customers through library blog, no Facebook or Twitter page.

Week 5 : Music files and mp3s

What can I say? I spent about an hour browsing through some of the music files, at home which I would not be able to do this during work time. I found out that to download free music from Amazon mp3 store and Amie street.com, I have to be living in the US. Therefore I decided to give up. I have managed to sign up for muzic.com, which I created a profile and did not download anything at all, the good news is that it excepted New Zealand citizen. Hooray for that!!!. You can upload music and save it in your favourite and blog about it as well. I am not sure whether customers would use this site, personally it did not work well for me.

Week 4 : Books and social networking

MY TOP THREE READ

What I like about this site? easy to navigate and if you were to do a display on any genre it there right in front of you under popular list. Just pull out a popular genre for example: 'best books ever' plenty of book choices to choose, ensurely it in the library collection off course.
I would definitely promote GoodReads to our patrons, for the reason of discovering other sources such as authors, quotes and quizzes based on popular reads. It an awesome site.

Week 3: Twitter

My twitter experience: First time user, it a bit like typing on a word document. It okay!!!
my twitter user name @papgal30.
I will try and use twitter, I am a facebook gal therefore it may take me a little while to adapt to twitter.

Week 2: Zamzar

Zamzar: This is my first time using Zamzar, it easy to use and I will definitely use it again
it really is a smart tool. I would definitely recommend this site to our library users, it a good way of storing bigger files or if customers don't have a saving device, this can be converted into PDR files and send to there email. Zamzar rock's....
Alternatively click on the following link to download a copy of your converted file:http://www.zamzar.com/getFiles.php?uid=1856613088592001272342514&targetID=9Ya1O4LQot4wHLqU3WPFAQVKpK0_ZZI6j

Manukau Libraries Web 2.0

Week One: Blogger
Signing up for a new blog
Discovery Exercise for repeat 2.0-ers: It was better for me to sign up for a new blog and because of previous experiences with web 2.0, it is easier, smooth and slick to create my new blog...otherwise I would be a lost peanut.
What I am expecting this time around? For the activities to be shorter and easier to navigate.
What are your 2.0 fears? I don't have any, I am always keen to learn new ways of exploring around the net....Bring it On!!!

Register my blog
here is my blog address: http://papgal.blogspot.com/
As you know Papgal stands for Papatoetoe gal.
